Sharon Stark
Actress, Director & Playwright
Sharon Ingrid Stark is an actress and creator working across theatre, stage, film, and television.
She is a graduate of the School of American Ballet, New York, the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio, Tel Aviv, and holds a BA in Theatre Education and Directing from Seminar Hakibbutzim.
As a playwright and director, she has created stage works presented in repertory theatres, independent venues, and international festivals. Her plays have been translated into English and Georgian and presented in Israel and abroad.
As an actress, she has performed a wide range of classical roles: Belisa in Don Perlimplin (Federico García Lorca), Marianne in The Miser (Molière), Helen in Machinal (Sophie Treadwell), and Jocasta in Oedipus (Sophocles). She has also worked in post-dramatic theatre, including Elfriede Jelinek's Am Königsweg (On the Royal Road).
She has participated in numerous original productions at the Haifa Theatre and the Khan Theatre, as well as collaborations with director Ariel Wolf.
In film and television, she has appeared in leading roles in The Saddest Sketch Show in the World (Makom LeDeaga), Lost in Africa, Lost in Asia, Angel of My Mother and The Greenhouse.
Acting
Sharon Stark brings a rare combination of stage discipline, camera intimacy and physical intelligence. Her screen credits include leading television roles in Lost in Africa, Lost in Asia, Angel of My Mother and The Greenhouse. In theatre, she has worked with many of Israel's leading directors and continues a long creative collaboration with Ariel Wolf. In 2020, she won Best Actress awards for her role in the short film 5 Seconds.
Playwriting
Stark's plays turn contemporary anxieties into sharp theatrical machines. With wit that moves from satire to the surreal, she exposes the roles people perform, the compromises they call love, the systems they trust and the private rebellions that begin when meaning fails. Her comedies — Paradox, Trulove Ltd. and Father Figure, co-written with Roey Malich Reshef — center on awakening, self-definition and the absurd logic of modern life. Trulove Ltd. was included in a Georgian-language anthology of Israeli women playwrights in 2022.

Directing
Stark's directing is rooted in the body — in rhythm, spatial composition and the charged encounter between actor and audience. Drawing on her background in dance and performance, she creates productions that move between realism, poetry and the absurd, where irony, humor and pain coexist in a clean theatrical language. Her work includes original plays, contemporary drama and stage adaptations of major literary works.
