Sharon Stark
Actress, Director & Playwright
Sharon Stark is an Israeli actress, playwright and director. Her professional career began in dance, at the School of American Ballet in New York. After graduating, she joined Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam. She then turned to acting and studied at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Tel Aviv. Stark has played lead roles in television series including Lost in Africa, Mama's Angel and The Greenhouse Academy. On stage she played dozens of critically acclaimed roles at Haifa Theater and the Khan Theater. After a decade of repertory theater, her work has expanded into writing and directing. Her work is regularly presented on repertory and independent stages, including Haifa Theater, The Incubator, Tmuna and Tzavta.
Acting
Sharon performs in theatre, film and television. She has played leading roles in series including Lost in Africa, Lost in Asia, Mama's Angel and The Greenhouse Academy. Recently she won Best Actress for her role in the short film 5 Seconds. On stage she has worked at Haifa Theater and the Khan Theater in Jerusalem with leading Israeli directors, including Roni Pinkovich, Inbal Pinto, Mikhael Gurevich, Sinai Peter, Ofira Henig, Yossi Yzraely, Udi Ben Moshe, and in an ongoing collaboration with director Ariel Wolf.

Playwriting
Stark's plays explore the paradoxes of modern life. She examines themes of identity and the search for meaning by deconstructing and rebuilding a surrealistic parallel reality. With sharp humor she invites the viewer to observe role-plays and the unaware choices we make. Her comedies center on processes of awakening and self-definition: Paradox, Trulove Ltd. and Father Figure (co-written with Roey Malich Reshef). Trulove Ltd. was selected for an anthology of Israeli women playwrights published in Georgian in 2022.

Directing
Stark's directing draws on her experience as a dancer and an actress. She places the actor's work and movement in space at the center. She explores the relationship between form, movement and composition and the dramatic and emotional states they evoke. Working in a register that moves between realism and poetry, she shapes stage events that underline the irony, humor and pain of human existence. Her productions have received critical acclaim.
